Though the air outside felt heavy with the 95 degree temperatures and sweltering sun, nothing could keep Thatcher and Kayelee from fully experiencing their wedding day. As an Iowa wedding photographer, the thought of a hot, blistering day can be daunting, but this couple made the day seem like a breath of fresh air.

It was a butter yellow vision perfectly captured by the detail-oriented designers at Unique Events Iowa. I later talked with Emily, the designer on the project, at a vendor event, and she informed me that Thatcher and Kayelee’s wedding was the only butter yellow wedding she’s ever done. What?! Petition for more butter yellow weddings in 2026 and 2027!!

These butter yellow dresses were a vision! My favorite is when bridesmaids are able to express themselves either through the color they choose or the dress style they pick. It gives so much dimension to the bridal party. The flowing fabric was just stunning!!

The day was so intentionally thought out and put together. Getting to document days like these is what makes being a wedding photographer the best job.
